04 Jun Getting Started: Sales and Marketing Strategies
Have you ever tried to start a fire in the woods while camping? I’m talking about a Boy Scout type of fire, the kind that starts by rubbing two sticks together and not by using a lighter. If you’ve ever done it, or even the thought of it sounds exhausting to you, then you know how much hard work it actually takes to create that first spark, the tiny flame that catches fire and spreads to your kindling. As the flame gets bigger it also gets wider and higher, and before you know it you’re toasting marshmallows and warming your toes.
Running a business is not a get-rich-quick scheme, and takes a lot of hard work and dedication. You need to start by rubbing your two sticks together to create a flame that spreads across your local community, across the internet, and – if you’re lucky – across the world. Think of sales and marketing as your two sticks because these aspects represent the basis of everything your business will eventually benefit from.
Here are some simple ways to help spread your fire:
- Community Outreach – Look to other small businesses in your community that might enhance your message and team up to put on a free event to get your name front and center.
- Social Media – Use social media platforms like Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn to reach a broad audience by posting unique content that you’ve created to help engage with your readers.
- Go to School – Approach a local school to offer them one of the unique services you provide, possibly something that their funding doesn’t cover. You get brand exposure and community support, and they get a service they need. Win-win!
It only takes one spark to make a flame! Every business starts small but with time, patience and determination, you can reach the top in no time. And if you need help along the way, submit a service request and we will help in any way we can.
